Be the Next Jake!

Applications due March 31!

We want to Thank our Senior Ambassadors - Jake Taylor and Sydney Cockrell. Excellent Work!

If you have a passion for fishing and want to make a difference in the lives of kids fighting cancer?

You may be the next Angling for Relief Ambassador!

7 years ago, Jake had a vision to bring therapeutic diversion through fishing to kids fighting cancer after a friend, Ryan Baker, spent the last 18 months of his childhood in hospitals and at home battling Ewing Sarcoma.   At that time, no one could predict that we would have requests from all across the country for Jake’s Dry Fishing Kit and Fishing is Relief events.

With Jake heading to college in the fall, our programs need someone(s) like Jake to fill his shoes.  The “Next Jake” or  Ambassadors for Angling for Relief, application is open to current High School sophomores and juniors.

Ambassadors will need to have the following qualities:

  1. Enjoy working with kids/parents
  2. Enjoy the outdoors
  3. Willing to conduct TV/Radio/Social Media interviews
  4. Holds high standards for self as representing Angling for Relief

Some Requirements/Responsibilities include:

  1. Help build following for Angling for Relief and pediatric cancer awareness through social media, personal network, etc.
  2. “Fish” with kids in a hospital setting (Dry Fishing) and/or fishing events (Fishing is Relief Events)
  3. Represent Angling for Relief at fundraising events, 1Voice Tutoring, and other pediatric organizational events
  4. Inspire teens to get involved and voluteer at events
  5. First mate/deckhand during inshore fishing trips with local Captains and Angling for Relief families

Through the programs we have developed, children will be able to learn to fish from their home/hospital using our “Dry Fishing Kit” and educational materials. Our YouTube channel gives them demonstrations and activities to learn more about fishing. We will then offer them the opportunity to put their skills to the test on the water once they are cleared by their medical team/parents and join us at our #FishingIsRelief events. At these events, the entire family is welcome to join in the fun and find some fishing relief, too.

The Rewards.....

The commitment is big, yet the rewards you will encounter by helping kids to simply embrace the joy of being kids, even amid challenging circumstances will be even bigger!

The reality is that you need service hours, and every hour spent with/for Angling for Relief is a service hour.

We are also thrilled to be able to offer a small scholarship as you head off to college.

Another advantage is the potential opportunities that may open up to you in the fishing or medical industry.

Ready to Apply?

We will be selecting two new Ambassadors to be part of the Fishing and Hospital programs we offer. Please reach out at 813.784.5711 or [email protected] with questions.  We look forward to reading your application!
